And then he was three...

So today is the big day...my baby turns 3!!! I cannot believe it! I was telling my mom this morning that I remember everything about January 24, 2007. What a wonderful day it was!! I had a little bit longer labor than usual, about 12 hours. But it was so relaxing and wonderful. And then when 9:00 came around, it was only going to be a few more minutes before I could touch, feel, and hear my newborn make noise for the first time. That few minutes was 8 to be exact. Eight short minutes of pushing was unbelievable!

So this year for his birthday, as I posted earlier, I decided that I wanted to make his cake. It wasn't going to be as hard and it was. But thanks to my ever loving sister who forgot that I needed decorating tips brought to me, I was able to pull it off. My mom and I woke up pretty earlier to get started. She found a pastry filler that she had bought from pampered chef and we wrigged it up just enough to make it work. It isn't perfect, but it was my first and I am proud of it.

So this is the after math of the cake...it turned out pretty well, however I think that i need to work on lettering a little bit. But I am SOOOO proud of myself. Of course, I did have to have some help from my mom. Then, I went into the bathroom for about 5 minutes and when I came back out, Kaden had decided that he wanted to put all ten birthday candles in the cake, and push te mystery machine down into the cake as to hide it. I wanted to get so mad, but it was his birthday. So I decided to take the mystery machine out, fill the hole with frosting, and somehow cover up the candle holes without destroying it completely. And this is what it looks like now....

Oh well...what do you do? Its his birthday and he's smash his cake if he wants to!!!

It's almost birthday time!

So Kaden's birthday is 6 days away, and rather than buying a birthday cake I decided to make one. Mostly because he wanted scooby doo and Albertson's didn't have one. They told me that if I wanted, I could buy a cake topper or a figurine and they would decorate a cake to go with it. So while I was shopping around for cake figures, I found a cake that I liked that I think would really be of minimal effort. So this is going to be my first experience of decorating a cake, other than just some frosting.

Isn't this the cutest thing ever? Of course, this is just the pic and I don't have the artistic ability to create a Scooby Doo out of Modeling chocolate, so i did buy a cake topper from Amazon.com and hopefully it arrives on time. I'm thinking that I will make the cake Saturday and freeze them so they are easier to frost Sunday morning. I don't know why, but I think I am more excited for his birthday than he is. All he cares about is having cake. He keeps telling me that he is getting recipes for birthday cake and frosting! Ha ha, I think I must do a little too much googling when he is around... I am pretty excited. Wish me luck! I will for sure post pics of the final product.

...long time no talkie

Ok...so It has been a while since I have posted. To tell you the truth, I kinda forgot that I started a blog. This is all new to me so you will have to bare with it along the way. So...since I last blogged, we have had Christmas, New Years, and now its almost birthday time.
Christmas was fantastic! It gets hard having to split the time with Kaden between his dad and I but we have to do it. Christmas Eve santa came to visit us. He brought Kaden a nerf gun. He absolutely loved it! I had to work but only until 6:30, so I just came straight home. We had a prime rib dinner and the nativity story to follow. Christmas morning we woke up and opened presents as we usually did. Kaden had so much fun! He saw his candy cane filled with kisses and thought it was an umbrella...too cute!! Christmas morning Tommy came to pick up Kaden and take him to see his other grandparents. I hope that he had fun, which I am sure he did!
Christmas day we had dinner at my dads parents house. It was fun to see my uncles and their wives. Its funny because they are all just starting their families, and my dad is just getting grandbabies. So my cousins are the same ages as my neices/my child. Oh well...thats what happens sometimes I guess. We really didn't do much for New years...just went to a friends house and watched movies and let the kids play! It was nice catching up with her though!!!

New Years Resolution....
So...I don't normally do Resolutions, but this year I found that I really wanted to take on a few things. First off, since my divorce has been finalized for almost a year I decided that it is time to get rid of all the incurred debt so that if/when I get married again, I can go into that marriage without any baggage. So my first resolution is to somehow, someway, get rid of my debt. It may take a while, but I want to do it.
My second resolution is to get healthier. I wouldn't necessarily say that I don't eat healthy because I had a mother that made sure we had vegetables at almost every meal. So I do eat my fruits and veggies. But since I have had Kaden, I have also kept about 15 pounds of his weight on. My reslolution is to get rid of that 15 pounds, and then some and just get healthier. Healthier for me, and for Kaden. I don't want to be the lazy parent that doesn't ever get out with their children. Thats all the resolutions I decided to take on for the year 2010...hopefully, just hopefully I can do this! ...until next time folks!

The Most Wonderful Time Of the Year!!!

This is my first blog EVER. I have the entire day off and decided that maybe it would be a good idea to start one. So here I am. This has been a crazy weekend. Kaden went with his dad last week, and when he got home he developed a fever, and then told me his ears started hurting. So I automatically assumed that he had an ear infection. With my medical background, and the fact that it doesn't take a genius to diagnose an ear infection, I took him into the doctor and sure enough! Poor thing. He is almost 3 and this is the first ear infection he has had.
Kaden is such a good boy. He has had potty training mastered for about the last month. Can I tell you how nice this is? I was starting to get down when it was taking so long to get him potty trained, but now it is so worth it. And they have the cutest boxer briefs for boys!!! Too bad they don't have this cute of underwear for girls huh! The past month has also been a little rough on little Kaden because I have started back at work. I am working at Gymboree part time as one of the sales leads. This position is pretty cool because it is entry level management, so hopefully in a while I will be eligible for a Management position if desired. I never though in a million years that I would be working in Retail, especially since I have a degree in the Medical field. But I need a job ever so badly and there weren't any Tech jobs in the valley. So I had to try something new. And I think this new is goo.
I am so excited for the Holiday season!! Every year gets more and more exiciting as Kaden gets older. He got to visit Santa when my boyfriend was watching him while I worked. I guess he was really excited and told santa that he wanted a Gator Golf game, and I am pretty sure Santa will get it for him. He is understanding Christmas a little bit more. Actually the other night my mom sat Kaden on her lap and told him the story of the virgin Mary and how Jesus was born. Kaden was well behaved and listened for quite some time. We also made Ginger bread houses last night, so that was a lot of fun too. After about an hour of making them I looked over to see Kaden just eating the candy off his house. I had to laugh. I will post the few pictures that I have.
I just wanted to express how grateful I am right now. The last 4 months has been extremely stressful as far as finances go. I was looking for a job for quite some time and wasn't getting hearing anything back. My parents have been so helpful! I would have never made it through those months without them. Now I am extremely grateful to have a job right before the holiday season. I want to ensure that Kaden has a great Christmas. I know its an adjustment for him to spend time in 2 seperate households, so I want to make this as memorable for him as I can!
